Okay, so, you wanna know about this…cashmere dickey thing, right? Alright, let me tell ya what I know. Don’t expect no fancy words, though. I ain’t got none of that.
First off, what the heck is a dickey? Sounds kinda funny, don’t it? Well, it’s like…a piece of clothing. Not a whole shirt, mind you. Just the front part, like the neck and chest. You wear it under somethin’ else, like a jacket or somethin’. Keeps ya warm, I guess. Like a scarf, but it covers more.
Now, this “cashmere” part? That’s the fancy stuff. It’s a kind of wool, real soft and warm. They say it comes from goats, them goats way over there in…Mongolia, I think they said. Cold place, that is. Makes sense them goats got warm fur. They comb it off ’em, they say. Hard work, I bet. That’s why this cashmere stuff costs a pretty penny.
So, a cashmere dickey? It’s a piece of warm, soft cloth you put on your neck and chest, under your jacket. Sounds cozy, that’s for sure. Better be, for the price they charge!
Why would you want one? Well, I reckon it’s for lookin’ good and stayin’ warm. You know, them fancy folks in the city, they like to layer their clothes. A jacket ain’t always enough, see? And a big ol’ sweater can be too bulky. This dickey thing, it’s just right. Not too much, not too little.
I heard tell these cashmere dickeys come with zippers. That makes sense, I guess. Easy to put on, easy to take off. Some even have two zippers, go both ways. Fancy, huh? They say you can even swap ’em out with different jackets. Like, you got one jacket, but you can change the look with different dickeys. That’s what they call “interchangeable,” I think. Sounds like a lot of fuss to me, but what do I know?
And the feel of it, they say it’s somethin’ special. Real soft, real smooth. Not like that scratchy wool we used to have back in the day. This cashmere, it’s like…well, they say it’s like butter. Soft butter, I guess. Never felt butter that soft myself, but you get the idea.
- Soft as butter they say.
- Keeps you warm under your jacket.
- Got zippers and fancy stuff.
They say good cashmere is strong, too. Lasts a long time. You don’t want it pilin’ up, you know, gettin’ all them little balls of fuzz all over it. That happens when the wool ain’t so good, they say. Them goats in Mongolia, they got long fur, that’s the key. Long fur makes strong yarn, that’s what I heard.
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you need one of these cashmere dickeys. Heck, I don’t even own one myself. But if you got the money and you wanna be warm and look fancy, I guess it’s a good thing to have. Just be sure you take care of it. This ain’t no work shirt, you know? You gotta treat it nice, or it won’t last. And for that price, you want it to last, that’s for sure.
So, there ya have it. That’s what I know about this cashmere dickey thing. Not much, maybe, but enough to get ya started. You wanna know more, go ask them fancy folks in the city. They know all about this kind of stuff.
But remember this, warm is warm, no matter if it is fancy cashmere or plain wool. And looking good is nice, but being comfortable and warm is what really matters, ain’t it?
