Aiyoyo, let’s talk about this music thing, huh? My grandkids always jabbering about it, “Grandma, listen to this, listen to that!” Like I got all the time in the world, right? But, well, sometimes you stumble on something that ain’t half bad. Gotta admit.
So, you want some music recommendations? Recommendations, big word, eh? Means what songs to listen to, I guess. Well, it ain’t easy. There’s millions of songs, they say. Millions! Makes my head spin. Like a chicken running around without a head.

- You got them radio things, playing all sorts. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s just noise. Like a cat fight in the alley.
- Then you got them phones, the youngins are always glued to them. They got all sorts of music on there. Beats me how it works. Like magic, I tell ya.
Now, they say there’s these “algorithms” that pick songs for you. Algor… whatchamacallit. Fancy word for a computer guessing what you like. Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s way off. Like trying to guess how many beans in a jar.
My grandson, he likes them loud ones, the “bang bang” music. Makes the whole house shake. I tell him, “Turn it down, boy! You’ll wake the dead!” But he just laughs. Says it’s the new style. What do I know?
My granddaughter, she likes them singers with the high voices. All about love and heartbreak and such. Makes me remember when I was young. We didn’t have fancy music back then. Just a fella with a guitar, singing under the stars. That was romantic. Not like this “bang bang” stuff.
They say you gotta find your “music personality.” Personality? Like if you’re grumpy or happy? I dunno. I just like a good tune. Something you can hum along to. Something that makes you tap your feet.
They got these websites, they call ’em “blogs” or somethin’. People write about music there. Say if it’s good or bad. Like critics, you know? I don’t pay much attention. What do they know? Everyone likes different things.
And then there’s them social media things. The kids post videos of themselves dancing and singing. Some are good, some are… well, let’s just say they try hard. But hey, if it makes them happy, who am I to judge?

So, you want my recommendation? Recommendation… here it is: listen to whatever makes you happy. Don’t listen to what others say. Your ears are your own. If you like it, that’s all that matters. Simple as that.
Like that old song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” That’s a good one. Makes you smile, you know? Or that one about sunshine on your shoulders. That’s nice too. Something about feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
Maybe I should ask my grandkids for some recommendations after all. Maybe they got something I’d like. You never know. Even an old lady like me can learn new things. Even about music.
So, go on, find your music. Whatever makes you tap your feet. Whatever makes you smile. And don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. Just enjoy.
