Alright, so I’ve been itching to escape the dreary January weather, and I figured, why not share my little adventure with you all? I’m talking about finding the best cities to visit in the US in January. Now, I’m not made of money, so I needed to be smart about this.
First things first, I started digging around for deals. I hit up sites and saw some ads about finding deals on hotels or homes and stuff in between, you know, the usual. And of course, Tripadvisor popped up, promising discounts and ways to save some cash. I gotta say, their claim of having millions of reviews did make me feel a bit more confident, though I always take those with a grain of salt.

Then came the fun part – deciding where to go! I jotted down a couple of places that caught my eye. Lake Tahoe in California was high on the list. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that stunning lake surrounded by snow-covered mountains? Then there was Big Bear, also in California, which seemed like a cozy spot for some winter fun.

Lake Tahoe, California
I started looking up activities in Lake Tahoe. I figured I could do some skiing or snowboarding, maybe try snowshoeing. The idea of gliding down those slopes with the crisp winter air on my face was just too tempting. Plus, I saw some folks online talking about scenic drives around the lake, which sounded like a great way to take in the views without freezing my butt off.

Big Bear, California
Big Bear seemed a bit more low-key than Lake Tahoe. I imagined myself renting a cabin, curling up by the fireplace with a good book, and maybe venturing out for some hikes in the snowy woods. It seemed like the perfect place to unwind and recharge.
But then I stumbled upon Sedona, Arizona. Now, this was a game-changer. Pictures of those red rock formations bathed in sunlight just blew me away. I read that January is actually a great time to visit Sedona because the weather is mild, and there are tons of outdoor activities. Hiking trails like Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock were calling my name. And the Red Rock Scenic Byway? Forget about it, I was sold.
I also found a random comment online somewhere saying that the actually “warm” places in January are only like Florida and Hawaii, which, yeah, makes sense. And I saw a mention of Puerto Rico and Guam, too. So that got me thinking about maybe going somewhere totally different.
So, after weighing my options and dreaming of sunny skies and red rocks, I decided to book a trip to Sedona! It was not much of a hard decision to make after all. I found a decent deal on a hotel, packed my bags, and off I went. And let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. January in Sedona was pure magic. Stay tuned for more details on my Sedona adventure – I’ve got plenty of stories to share!
