Okay, so, this weekend, I was like, “I need to get the family out of the house.” We’ve been cooped up for too long, you know? So I started brainstorming, where can we go that’s not too far, but still fun for everyone? I’m talking about the whole crew – me, the hubby, and the two kiddos.
First, I jumped online, googling “weekend family trips near me.” A bunch of stuff popped up, obviously. Some of it was, like, way too far. We didn’t want to spend the whole weekend driving. I started making a list of possibilities, writing down anything that seemed remotely interesting. City breaks, nature trails, amusement parks – you name it. I got this big sheet of paper and started jotting down ideas, pros and cons, that kind of thing.
Narrowing It Down
Then came the hard part – narrowing it down. My youngest is super into bugs right now, so I thought maybe someplace with a nature center or something like that. My older one is all about the city life and arcades, so I thought it had better be a place with fun activities. He loves those video game places. Then there’s the hubby and me – we just wanted a place where we could relax a little, maybe enjoy a good meal, and not break the bank, haha.
We had a family meeting. Everyone got to pitch their ideas, it was kind of fun actually. We looked at the list I made, talked about what we wanted to do, and tried to find something that would make everyone at least somewhat happy. It was a bit of a mess, honestly, with everyone talking over each other. Reminded me of planning our vacations, which always ends in a bit of an argument, haha. But we got there in the end!
The Final Decision
We ended up choosing the National Museum of Korea! They’ve got this children’s museum attached to it, which seemed perfect for the little one. Plus, there are parks nearby, and the Han River is close, too, so we could let the kids run around and burn off some energy. And for us grown-ups, there are plenty of places to eat and just chill. Sounded like a good compromise, right? We could even hop on the KTX train and make a quick trip to Busan if we were feeling adventurous.
Saturday morning, we packed some snacks, made some sandwiches and potato skins – the kids love those! Then, we hopped in the car and headed out. It was a pretty smooth trip, not too much traffic, thankfully.
- We spent the whole day exploring the museum.
- The kids loved the children’s section.
- We took lots of pictures and made a tone of great memories.
It was a good day. A really good day. It was nice to get out of the house, do something different, and just spend time together as a family. Sometimes, those simple weekend trips are the best, you know? And hey, maybe next time, we’ll try that bug-catching thing!
