Alright, let’s talk about them easy karaoke songs, you know, for folks like me who ain’t exactly got the voice of an angel. More like a crow, maybe. But hey, that don’t mean we can’t have some fun, right? So, if you’re like me and your singing ain’t gonna win you no prizes, listen up.
First off, you gotta pick somethin’ simple. Don’t go tryin’ no Mariah Carey or nothin’. You’ll just embarrass yourself, and nobody wants that. We’re lookin’ for songs with a good beat, somethin’ you can kinda talk-sing along to. Them fellas in the magazines, they say “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers is good. I ain’t never heard of them, but the song’s got a nice, steady rhythm, not too high, not too low. Like drivin’ a tractor on a smooth field, you know? Easy peasy.
Then there’s them songs where the words are more important than the singin’. Like, uh… what’s that one… Oh yeah, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. That fella, he don’t exactly belt it out neither. It’s more like… talkin’ with music. You can do that! We all talk, don’t we? Just gotta add a little bit of… somethin’. And if you mess up a word or two, nobody’s gonna notice. They’ll be too busy thinkin’ about the meanin’ of it all.
- “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations – Now that’s a song everyone knows. You can just yell along with everyone else.
- “Royals” by Lorde – This one’s got a kinda slow, moody feel. Easy to keep up with, and you don’t gotta hit no high notes.
- “Love Me Tender” by Elvis Presley – Even the King himself sang some easy ones. This one’s slow and sweet, perfect for croonin’. Or somethin’ like croonin’, anyway.
- “Achy Breaky Heart” by Billy Ray Cyrus – Don’t laugh! This one’s a classic for a reason. It’s fun and simple, and everybody knows the words.
And don’t forget them country songs! I tell you what, them country fellas, they know how to sing about real life. Stuff like heartache and tractors and… well, you know. Johnny Cash, he’s a good one. “Ring of Fire”, that’s a good one to sing along to. Not too much fancy stuff, just good, plain singin’. And Josh Turner with that “Long Black Train” song. It’s kinda low, which is good for us folks who can’t reach them high notes. You can kinda just… hum along if you get lost. Nobody will even know!
Some young folks like that Spice Girls, “Wannabe” they sing. That’s pretty easy to shout along too. And that Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello song, “Senorita”, that’s got a nice little tune. You can kinda sway back and forth and pretend you’re all romantic and stuff. It’s all about havin’ fun, see? Don’t take it too serious.
And if you really get stuck, just pick a song everyone knows and sing along with the crowd. “Sunny” by Boney M, now that’s a good one for that. Everybody knows it, and you can just kinda blend in. Or that “I Can See Clearly Now” by Johnny Nash. Real hopeful song that. Just belt it out, even if it ain’t pretty. Like that “Killing Me Softly” song, that’s an old one, but folks still love it. You can really put your heart into it, even if your voice ain’t perfect. It’s more about the feelin’ than the soundin’ good part, you know?
Look, the whole point of karaoke is to have a good time. Don’t worry about bein’ perfect. Just pick a song you like, grab the mic, and let ‘er rip. Even if you sound like a cat stuck in a fence, who cares? You’re havin’ fun, and that’s all that matters. And remember, if you ain’t sure, just pick somethin’ slow and easy. You’ll be fine. Now go on and sing your heart out!
And one more thing, don’t let nobody tell you you can’t sing. Karaoke ain’t about bein’ a star, it’s about havin’ a laugh and maybe forgettin’ about your troubles for a little while. So go on, get up there and make some noise! Even if it’s bad noise, it’s still your noise, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of.
