Alright, listen up, y’all! Portugal, huh? Three days? That ain’t a whole lotta time, but we can make it work. You gotta plan it out right, or you’ll be wanderin’ around like a lost goose. So, let’s see how we can squeeze the juice outta them three days.
Day 1: Lisbon, the Big City Buzz
First thing’s first, you land yourself in Lisbon. That’s the capital, you know, the big cheese. Don’t go expectin’ no fancy-schmancy stuff right away. It’s a city, just like any other, but with its own…well, its own thing. You gotta see them old neighborhoods, like this Alfama place. It’s like a maze, all twisty and turny. You could get lost real easy, but that’s half the fun, ain’t it? And Baixa, that’s another one. Flatter, but still got that old-timey feel. Lots of shops and such. Grab yourself somethin’ to eat. Don’t be shy, try the local grub. Fish, mostly. They got this codfish they’re crazy about. Smells a bit fishy, if you ask me, but it tastes alright. And them custard tarts, pasteis de nata, they call ’em. Sweet as can be, melt right in your mouth. Gotta watch your sugar though, at my age!
- Morning: Alfama wanderin’, gettin’ lost, findin’ your way.
- Afternoon: Baixa shoppin’ and sightseein’, maybe grab a coffee.
- Evening: Eat some fish, try them tarts, and watch the city lights come on.
Day 2: Sintra, Fairytales and Castles
Okay, so you seen the city, now it’s time for somethin’ different. Sintra, they say. It’s a day trip, you take a train or a bus. I ain’t sure which is better, you figure that out. Sintra…it’s like somethin’ out of a book. Castles, all fancy and colorful. Palaces, too. Like where them kings and queens used to live. Pena Palace, that’s the big one. Bright yellow and red, sticks out like a sore thumb. You can see it from miles away. And them gardens, my oh my! Flowers everywhere, trees all twisty and old. It’s a good place to take pictures, if you’re into that sort of thing. Walk around, take it all in. It’s pretty, I’ll give it that. Just watch your step, them cobblestones can be tricky.
Don’t you forget:
- Get yourself to Sintra early, takes a bit to get there
- Wear comfy shoes, you’ll be doin’ a lot of walkin’.
- Take a bottle of water, you don’t wanna get parched.
Day 3: More Lisbon, Or Maybe Not…
Alright, day three. Now you got a choice. You can go back to Lisbon and see the stuff you missed. There’s this big ol’ bridge, looks just like the one in San Francisco. And a big Jesus statue, arms stretched out, blessin’ the city. Or…you can do somethin’ else. Maybe go to the beach. I hear them beaches are nice, down south. But that might be too far for just one day. You know what? Stick to Lisbon, see a museum or somethin’. There’s this tile museum, all about them pretty tiles they put on the buildings. Or just wander around some more, find a nice park, sit on a bench and watch the people go by. That’s what I’d do. Take it easy, you know? You’re on vacation.
Here’s a thought, if you go back to Lisbon:
- Check out that Golden Gate look-alike bridge.
- Go see the big Jesus statue, it’s up on a hill.
- Find a nice park and just sit a spell.
So, there you have it. Three days in Portugal. It ain’t much, but it’s better than nothin’. Just remember to keep your eyes open, your wits about ya, and don’t be afraid to try new things. And for goodness sake, wear comfortable shoes! You’ll thank me later.
And one last thing, them Portuguese folks, they’re mostly friendly. Just smile and say “ola”, that’s hello in their language. They’ll appreciate it. Now go on, have yourself a good time!
