Okay, so I’ve been getting into this whole cosmetic tattoo thing lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a journey! I started by looking up what exactly cosmetic tattoos are. It’s basically like getting a tattoo, but it’s to make your makeup look permanently done – think eyebrows, eyeliner, even lips. Pretty cool, right?
My first step was to actually find out more about the different types. Turns out, there’s a bunch! Microblading, which is like tiny hair strokes for your brows, lip blushing, which gives your lips a tint, and eyeliner tattoos that, well, give you permanent eyeliner. I was most interested in microblading because my eyebrows are kind of sparse.

Then, I dove into how long these things last. I mean, if I’m getting something tattooed on my face, I want it to stick around for a while, but not forever, you know? From what I gathered, they usually last between 1 to 5 years. It depends on a lot of stuff like how oily your skin is, how much sun you get, and how well you take care of it after.
The next thing I did was look up the healing process. I found out that it takes about 4-6 weeks for it to fully heal. Apparently, there’s some scabbing and flaking at first, which is normal. And the color changes a bit during the healing time, so you don’t really see the final result until it’s all settled.
I also learned that these tattoos are done with special pigments that are supposed to be safer for your skin. Most of the colors used in these tattoos are said to stick around for about 3 to 5 years, but of course, everyone is different.
Thinking about how long they last, I figured that I’d need touch-ups every now and then to keep it looking fresh. But that’s okay, it’s still way less time than doing my makeup every single day.
What I Learned
- Cosmetic tattoos are like permanent makeup for your eyebrows, lips, or eyes.
- They typically last 1-5 years, depending on different factors.
- The healing process takes about 4-6 weeks, and the color might change during that time.
- Touch-ups are needed to keep it looking good over time.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at with my cosmetic tattoo research! It’s all pretty interesting, and I’m seriously considering getting microblading done. I’ll keep you guys updated if I decide to take the plunge!
