Okay, so I’ve been messing around with my wardrobe lately, trying to figure out some new outfit combos. I got this grey and yellow shirt that I really like, but I was stumped on what to wear with it. So, I decided to do a little experimenting and see what worked.
Try on some jeans
First, I tried on some different colored jeans. I started with my trusty black skinny jeans. I paired them with a fitted black T-shirt. You know, black goes with pretty much everything, so it was a safe bet. It looked okay, kind of understated and casual, which is cool sometimes.
Then, I remembered reading somewhere that yellow can really brighten up grey outfits. Since my shirt was already grey and yellow, I figured this might not be the best test case, but I gave it a shot anyway. I tried some regular blue jeans, but it just felt kind of boring.
Think about the color wheel
Next, I thought about the color wheel. I recalled that orange and green are next to yellow, so they might create a warm, earthy vibe. I dug out my olive green pants – they’re not exactly bright green, more like a muted tone. I put them on with the shirt, and it actually looked pretty good! It definitely gave off that earthy feel I was thinking about.
Burgundy?
I also remembered someone saying that grey looks great with jewel tones like burgundy. Now, I didn’t have any burgundy pants, but I did have a burgundy scarf. I wrapped it around my neck, just to get an idea, and it added a nice pop of color. I might have to invest in some burgundy pants in the future!
The conclusion of my experiment
- Black: Always a safe choice, creates a casual look.
- Regular Blue Jeans: A bit too plain for my taste.
- Green: Earthy and warm, a surprisingly good match.
- Burgundy: Adds a touch of richness, definitely worth exploring further.
So, that was my little fashion experiment. I learned that grey and yellow can actually work with a bunch of different colors, depending on the vibe you’re going for. I might even try a grey suit with a yellow shirt and a tie that has both colors in it, just to see how it looks for a more formal occasion. This whole thing reminded me that it’s fun to play around with clothes and not get stuck in a rut.
