Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with my new place, and let me tell you, I hit a bit of a wall when I got this killer cherry wood table. It’s gorgeous, right? But then I’m like, “What the heck do I pair this with?” I mean, I didn’t want my living room looking like a hot mess.
So, I started experimenting. First, I tried to get all matchy-matchy. My thinking was, maybe if I went with earthy tones, like brown or terracotta, it would bring out the warmth of the cherry wood. I painted an accent wall with a warm brown color. Then I found some terracotta pots and put them around. You know what? It didn’t look bad. It felt super cozy, like you’re walking into a warm hug or something. I thought I was a genius for a minute there.
But then, I started playing around with some contrasting stuff. I threw a pure white tablecloth over the table, and boom, the table just popped. It looked so fresh and clean. Then, I tried some light gray. I got some light gray seat cushions and placed them on my chairs, and man, it was like the table was floating or something. It felt modern and airy, totally different from the earthy vibe.
- Pure white: Made the table stand out, like really stand out.
- Light gray: Gave it a cool, modern look.
- Olive green: This one was a surprise. I added some green plants in the room, and they looked surprisingly good with the table.
I even tried some light pink stuff. I know, it sounds weird, but I put a few light pink throw pillows on my sofa, and it softened up the whole room. It was kind of romantic, in a way. Then I tried charcoal, and I painted another accent wall in my room. It made the room look super dramatic and the warm tones of the cherry wood are even more prominent.
Oh, and I also found out from my search that some people dig soft neutrals like beige and cream with cherry wood. And there’s this thing called “Silver Sage” from Benjamin Moore, which is apparently a cool color that works. Also, I found that someone said creamy ivory is the best color to go with cherry wood. Didn’t try those yet, but maybe I will. Someone also mentioned that bold colors like navy could be cool, so that’s on my list to try, too.
So yeah, that’s where I’m at. Still figuring it all out, but it’s been a fun ride. I’m no interior designer, but hey, I’m learning as I go, and my living room is starting to look pretty darn good, if I do say so myself!
