Okay, so, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. Winter on the East Coast is, like, freezing, right? But it can also be super pretty. So, I decided to check out some spots for a quick weekend getaway. And let me tell you, it was an adventure!
Planning the Trip
First off, I had to figure out where to go. I mean, the East Coast is huge. I did a bit of digging, you know, just browsing around, and a few places caught my eye. The Berkshires, Quebec City – they sounded cool. And then I saw something about Kennebunkport in Maine. A coastal town in winter? I was intrigued.

And then I stumbled upon some other places like White Mountains and Clearwater, Tampa and even St Petersburg. There are too many options and all of them sounds so good to me! Then I just pick up a place randomly.
Heading to White Mountains
So, I packed my warmest clothes – we’re talking serious layers here – and headed to White Mountains. It was easy to get to, which was a plus. The drive was… well, it was long. But the views started getting good the closer I got. You know, snow-covered trees and all that. I even stopped a couple of times just to take it all in.
Exploring the Town
Once I got there, I checked into this cozy little inn I found. Nothing fancy, but it had a fireplace, which was all I needed. The town itself was like straight out of a postcard. All these quaint little shops and cafes. I spent the first day just wandering around, popping into stores, and grabbing coffee to stay warm.
Outdoor Adventures
The next day, I decided to get a bit more adventurous. I’m not a big skier, but I figured, why not give it a shot? I rented some gear, which was a whole process in itself. Let’s just say I’m not exactly a natural on the slopes. I fell. A lot. But hey, it was fun, and I got some good laughs out of it.
After my skiing escapade, I found this trail that was supposed to have amazing views. It was a bit of a hike, but so worth it. The scenery was breathtaking. Snow everywhere, but in a magical way, not a “stuck in a blizzard” way. I took tons of pictures, obviously.
Food and Relaxation
Food-wise, I hit up some local spots. I’m talking comfort food galore. Think hearty stews and hot chocolate. One place had this amazing apple cider. I probably drank my weight in it. And in the evenings, I just relaxed by the fire at the inn, read a book, and enjoyed the peace and quiet.

Heading Back
Honestly, leaving was tough. It was such a nice break from the usual hustle and bustle. The drive back was a bit sad, but I was already planning my next winter trip in my head.
All in all, it was a pretty great weekend. I got to see some beautiful places, try new things, and just unwind. If you’re thinking about a winter getaway on the East Coast, I’d say go for it. Just pack your warmest socks and be ready for some snow-filled fun!
- Things I learned:
- 1. Layering is key.
- 2. I’m not a skier.
- 3. Hot apple cider is the best.
So that’s my little winter adventure. Hope you enjoyed it! What places have you all been to in the winter? Let’s share some stories!
