Okay, so I’ve been seeing denim shorts everywhere lately, and I wanted to try and put together some cool street-style looks with them. I’m no fashion expert, but I like experimenting, so here’s how it went!
Phase 1: Digging Through My Closet
First, I rummaged through my closet to find my denim shorts. I have a couple of pairs – a classic light-wash pair and a darker, more distressed pair. I decided to work with both to see what I could come up with.

Phase 2: Top Selection Mayhem
Next up, tops! This was tricky. I tried on a bunch of different things:
- A plain white tee – classic, but maybe a bit boring?
- A graphic tee – added some personality, but I wanted something more…stylish.
- A flowy blouse – felt a bit too dressy for the casual vibe I was going for.
- A crop top. This looked good!
- An oversized button-down shirt. I thought maybe I leave it unbuttoned.
I played around with tucking, half-tucking, and leaving the shirts untucked to see what looked best with each pair of shorts.
Phase 3: Shoe Struggle is Real
Shoes were another hurdle. I lined up my options:
- Sneakers (white, of course)
- chunky sandals.
- Ankle boots.
The sneakers were the obvious choice for comfort and that classic street-style look. The sandals were cute. The ankle boots, I felt, gave things a bit more edge, especially with the distressed shorts, so I leaned towards those.
Phase 4: Accessorize!
I grabbed a simple black belt to add some definition to my waist, especially when I tucked in the shirts. I didn’t have a nice hat.
Phase 5: The Final Looks
After a lot of mixing and matching (and a mini fashion show in my bedroom), I settled on two outfits I really liked:

- Look 1: Light-wash denim shorts, a crop top, ankle boots.
- Look 2: Distressed denim shorts, an oversized button-down shirt(unbuttoned), and sneakers.
Phase 6: Street Test
Finally, time to take the to public, put the style into action! Wear my new denim shorts and go out, walk around in the street to see what it looks like.
It’s not perfect, but hey, I had fun experimenting, and that’s what matters, right? It’s all about trying new things and finding what works for you!
