Okay, so I’ve been dreaming of a beach vacation for, like, forever. Seriously, I needed to escape the daily grind. I started by just casually browsing pictures online – you know, pure torture, but it fueled the fire! I spent a good few evenings just scrolling through images of turquoise water and white sand. It was pure escapism.
Planning the Trip
Then I got serious. I decided to take the vacation, I picked a week in June, figuring it wouldn’t be too crazy crowded. I looked at a bunch of different places – Mexico, the Caribbean, even considered some spots in Florida. After a lot of back and forth (and asking friends for opinions!), I settled on a small island in the Bahamas. It looked less touristy, which is totally my vibe.

Booked the flights and a little beachfront bungalow. The bungalow was a bit of a splurge, but I figured, why not? Treat myself, right? I made sure it had a hammock. Essential.
Pre-Trip Prep
- I made a packing list. Multiple times. I’m a chronic over-packer, so I tried to be reasonable. Swimsuits, cover-ups, a few sundresses, flip-flops, and a ton of sunscreen.
- I also downloaded a bunch of books and podcasts onto my phone. Airplane entertainment sorted!
- I bought a new, ridiculously large sun hat. Because sun safety, but also, it looked cute.
Beach Life Bliss
The trip itself? Amazing. Seriously. The water was even clearer than in the pictures. I spent most of my days just floating in the ocean, reading on the beach, and napping in the hammock. I tried paddleboarding – fell off a lot, but it was fun. I even went snorkeling one day and saw some colorful fish.
Evenings were all about watching the sunset with a cold drink in hand. I met some cool people, mostly other travelers. We shared stories and recommendations for local restaurants. I ate a lot of fresh seafood. A lot. No regrets.
Back to Reality
Coming home was rough. I’m already planning my next escape. Maybe I’ll try a different island next time. Or maybe I’ll just go back to the same one. It was that good. I am really happy to share the experience!
