Okay, so I saw this “mini skirt shoes” trend popping up all over my feed, and I just had to try it. I mean, who doesn’t love a good DIY project? Especially when it comes to fashion, you know. So, I started digging through my closet to find a pair of shoes and an old skirt I could mess with.
First, I found this pair of plain white sneakers. They were pretty basic, nothing fancy, so perfect for this experiment. And then, I stumbled upon this denim mini skirt I hadn’t worn in ages. The color was perfect, a nice, classic blue that I figured would look great on the shoes.

Getting Started
Next, I needed some tools. I grabbed:
- Scissors (obviously, gotta cut that skirt!)
- Fabric glue (super important to make everything stick)
- Some pins (to hold things in place while the glue dried)
- A pencil (for marking where to cut)
I laid the skirt flat and started by cutting off the waistband and the hem. I really just wanted the main part of the skirt, the denim fabric itself. Then, I roughly measured how much fabric I’d need for each shoe, making sure to leave extra room for error. You can always trim more later, but you can’t add fabric back on, right?
The Messy Part
This is where things got a little tricky. I started applying the fabric glue to the back of the denim pieces. I tried to be generous with the glue, but not too much that it would seep through and make a mess. Then, I carefully wrapped the denim around each shoe, starting from the heel and working my way forward. I used the pins to secure the fabric in place, especially around the curves and edges.
Honestly, it was a bit of a sticky situation (pun intended!). Glue got on my fingers, the pins kept poking me, and I was constantly adjusting the fabric to make sure it was smooth and even. But hey, that’s part of the DIY fun, right? It’s not always going to be perfect.
Finishing Touches
After the glue dried (I waited a good few hours, just to be safe), I removed the pins. Then, I trimmed any excess fabric around the edges and the soles of the shoes. I wanted to make sure everything looked neat and clean. I also added a little extra glue to any areas that looked like they might need reinforcement.
And…that’s it! My very own mini skirt shoes. I have to say, they turned out pretty cool! They’re definitely unique, and I love that I made them myself. It was a fun little project, and it gave new life to some old clothes. Definitely a win-win!
