Okay, so, I’ve been seeing these “fuzzy sandals” all over my social media, and I finally caved. I decided to try making a pair myself because, why not? I’m all about a good DIY project, and these looked pretty straightforward. Plus, I could customize them exactly how I wanted. So, I went to the craft store and grabbed some materials. Nothing too fancy, I’m not a pro crafter or anything.
Gathering Supplies
First, I had to collect everything I needed. Which made several trips to the craft store because I keep forgeting things.

- Plain sandals:I found some simple, cheap flip-flops. The color didn’t really matter since they’d be covered.
- Faux fur fabric:I chose a bright, fluffy pink because, go big or go home, right?
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks:Lots of glue sticks. I always underestimate how much glue I need.
- Scissors:For cutting the fabric.
- Some cardboard:For making a template and protecting my work surface.
The Process (aka Controlled Chaos)
I started by making a template of the sandal straps using the cardboard. Just traced around them, so I knew how much fabric I needed. Laying the cardboard under it. After I cut out the template, I placed it on the back of the faux fur and cut out the fur pieces, adding about the material and cutting it to the right size and shape.
Then, I made the great cutting. I carefully cut the fabric slightly larger than the template, cause error is made by human, not a tailor, and it is better safe than sorry. I started gluing the fabric to the straps, bit by bit. I used the hot glue gun to attach the fur to the sandals. Starting with the straps, I wrapped the fabric around, making sure it was snug and secure. This part was a little tricky because hot glue is, well, HOT. I definitely burned my fingers a couple of times (ouch!). So, word of advice: be careful with the hot glue!
I used small drops of glue to get more precision and to prevent any unsightly bumps. I tried to fold the edges of the fabric under as I went, to give it a cleaner look. But honestly, with all that fluff, you can’t really see any imperfections.
I repeat this process on the other sandal.
Once the straps were covered, I moved on to the sole. I cut out a larger piece of fur for the footbed and glued it down, making sure to smooth out any wrinkles. Trimmed any excess fur around the edges to make it neat. I had some extra fur, so I decided to add some to the heel area for extra fluffiness. Why not?

The Result
And… done! It took me a couple of hours, with some breaks in between, but I finally had my very own pair of fuzzy sandals. They’re super comfy and definitely make a statement. Are they perfect? No way. But I made them, and that’s what matters. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. They’re definitely not perfect – I’m no crafting expert – but they’re unique, and I’m pretty proud of my little DIY project. I’ve already worn them out a couple of times, and I’ve gotten so many compliments! I can’t believe how many people have asked if i bought them from famous brand. Now I’m thinking about making another pair in a different color. Maybe a nice, calming blue next time?
