Okay, so I’ve been itching for a quick escape, and Connecticut seemed like the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. I started by scouring the internet for some ideas, you know, just browsing around to see what’s out there.
Planning the Trip
I decided to make it a surprise for my partner, so I secretly booked a cute little Airbnb. It was this cozy cabin-style place nestled near some woods – perfect for some peace and quiet. Then I packed our bags, throwing in some comfy clothes, hiking boots, and a couple of good books.

- Checked the weather forecast (gotta be prepared!)
- Made a rough itinerary, but left room for spontaneity.
- Downloaded some offline maps, just in case.
The Getaway Begins
We got to the Airbnb and It was even cuter in person! We unpacked, settled in, and immediately felt the stress melt away.
We spent the first evening just chilling, playing some board games, and enjoying the quiet.
Exploring Around
The next day, we woke up early, grabbed some coffee, and headed out for a hike. The trails were awesome, with beautiful views. We even stumbled upon a little waterfall!
After the hike, we drove to a nearby town. We wandered around, checked out some local shops, and grabbed some lunch at this charming little diner. The food was amazing! Seriously, the best burger I’ve had in ages.

In the evening, we cooked a tasty dinner at the cabin and ended with a nice and chill night.
Heading Home
Sunday morning, we packed up our stuff, feeling totally refreshed. We took the scenic route home, stopping at a farm stand to grab some fresh produce.
It was such a simple trip, but honestly, it was exactly what we needed. Sometimes you just need to get away from it all, even if it’s just for a couple of days.
