Okay, so I’ve been seeing these Chomps meat sticks everywhere, and I finally caved and bought a variety pack. I’m trying to eat healthier, and these seemed like a good, high-protein snack option. But then I started thinking… how long do these things actually last?
I’m terrible at remembering to check expiration dates, and I didn’t want to end up eating something questionable. So, I embarked on a little mission to figure out the shelf life of Chomps.

My Chomps Shelf Life Investigation
First, I grabbed the packages and looked for a “best by” date. Luckily, they were pretty easy to find. Most of mine were stamped with a date about 9-12 months out from when I bought them. Good start!
I checked online the manufacture’s claim, the shelf-life is 1 year!
Next, I did what any reasonable person does – I hit the internet. I wanted to see what other people’s experiences were and if there were any tips for storing them to keep them fresh.
- Some people said they keep them in the pantry, no problem.
- Others recommended the fridge, especially after opening a package.
- A few even mentioned freezing them for long-term storage!
Putting It All Together
Based on my super scientific research (haha!), here’s what I decided to do:
- Unopened packages: I’m keeping most of them in my pantry. It’s cool and dry, which seems to be the key.
- Opened packages: Into the fridge they go! I figure it’s better to be safe than sorry, and I don’t want them drying out.
- Bulk buying?: If I ever decide to go crazy and buy a ton, I might try freezing some. It seems like a solid option for keeping them good for even longer.
I think that keeping track of when I purchased is the most insteresting part for me.
So far, so good! I’ve been enjoying my Chomps, and I haven’t had any issues with them going bad. I’ll update this if anything changes, but for now, I feel pretty confident in my Chomps storage strategy.
