Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Karelle McKay, eh? Sounds like a fancy name, one of them city gals, I reckon. Now, I ain’t never met her, but the internet, that thing my grandson showed me, it tells you a whole heap of stuff, you know?

So, first off, they say she’s a writer. A “contributing writer,” whatever that means. Seems like she writes for a bunch of different places. PureWow, they say. And Brit + Co. Heard of them? Me neither. Sounds like them magazines they sell at the checkout in the big grocery store, the ones with all the shiny pictures and fancy words. She writes about “pop culture.” Now, I ain’t sure what that is exactly. Is it like, how folks grow their crops nowadays? Or maybe it’s about them fancy sodas they sell in the city? Who knows.
This Karelle, she also likes to cook. The internet says she’s “trying out a new recipe in the kitchen.” Well, good for her, I say. Nothin’ like a good home-cooked meal. I bet she don’t make no biscuits like mine though. Mine are the best, everyone says so. Light and fluffy, just melt in your mouth. Maybe this Karelle, she makes them fancy cakes with all the frosting and sprinkles. Kids love that stuff, I guess.
- She writes for places like PureWow and Brit + Co.
- She’s into pop culture, whatever that is.
- She likes cooking and trying new recipes.
- She lives in Brooklyn and works as a multimedia journalist.
They also say she’s a “multimedia journalist” in Brooklyn. Brooklyn, that’s one of them big cities, right? Full of tall buildings and noisy cars. I bet it ain’t quiet like here, where you can hear the birds sing in the morning and the crickets chirp at night. A journalist, huh? So, she writes stories, I guess. Maybe she goes around asking folks questions and then writes about it. Sounds like a lot of work to me. I’d rather be out in the garden, tendin’ my tomatoes.
And she’s on something called LinkedIn. That’s for workin’ folks, right? Like a place where you put your name and what you do so people can hire you. I reckon she’s got her picture up there too, all dolled up in city clothes. I bet she don’t have no dirt under her fingernails, that’s for sure.
Then there’s this Medium place. Sounds like another one of them internet things. They say she “writes engaging content in digital media, radio.” Digital media? Radio? It’s all too much for me, I tell ya. Back in my day, we just talked to each other, face to face. Or we wrote letters, on paper, with a pen. None of this fancy digital stuff.
But hey, good for her, I say. She’s makin’ a livin’, I guess. And she’s writin’ about stuff, even if I don’t understand half of it. Pop culture, multimedia, digital media… it’s all Greek to me. But if she’s happy, that’s all that matters. Maybe one day she’ll come out here to the country and write about us. About the chickens and the cows and the way we grow our own food. Now that would be a story worth readin’, I reckon. A real story, not one of them fancy city stories about pop culture and whatever else they talk about in Brooklyn.

So, that’s what I know about Karelle McKay. Not much, really. Just a bunch of stuff I read on the internet. She’s a writer, a cook, a journalist, livin’ in the big city. And probably eatin’ them fancy cakes instead of good old-fashioned biscuits. But hey, to each their own, I always say.
