Okay, so, I had this whole karaoke night planned with my friends, and I was like, super pumped. But here’s the thing – I can’t exactly hit those high notes like some pop divas. My voice is more, you know, on the lower side. So, I started digging around to figure out what songs wouldn’t make me sound like a dying cat.
First, I scoured the internet, checking out all sorts of lists and suggestions. I stumbled upon this one site that was talking about “15 best karaoke songs for women with low voices.” That sounded right up my alley, so I dove into it. They had a bunch of ideas, and I started making a list of the ones that seemed like a good fit for me.

I noticed some popular songs popping up like “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz. I guess a lot of folks don’t realize that can be sung by a woman with a lower voice. I also saw “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton. Also, there was a song from 1997 by Shania Twain, a popular one.
I decided to go through my own music library and see what else I could find. I remembered that classic, “Proud Mary,” you know, the Creedence Clearwater Revival version. That song’s got that great, raspy vibe that works well with a deeper voice. It’s about a woman who is “proud,” so it’s got that strong feeling that works, too.
My Test Run
- “I’m Yours” – Jason Mraz
- “A Thousand Miles” – Vanessa Carlton
- “Beautiful” – Christina Aguilera
- “Proud Mary” – Creedence Clearwater Revival
- “I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor
- “Natural Woman” – Aretha Franklin
- “At Last” – Etta James
Then, I did a little test run in my living room. I belted out some Aretha Franklin, tried my hand at some Etta James, you know, just to see how it felt. I even threw in a little Gloria Gaynor for good measure. Turns out, I could actually pull them off! It was pretty fun, and I definitely didn’t sound half bad, if I do say so myself.
So, yeah, the karaoke night was a total blast. I rocked those low notes, and everyone had a great time. Turns out, you don’t need to be able to sing super high to have a good time at karaoke. It’s all about finding the right songs and just going for it. Now I feel like a superstar!
