This Frances Weller, I hear folks talkin’ ’bout her all the time. Wonderin’ if she’s still hitched to that fella. What was his name now? Somethin’ Durham, I reckon. Joe, maybe? Yeah, that sounds ’bout right. Is Frances Weller still married? Well, I heard some things, and I’ll tell ya what I know.
They tied the knot a while back, seems like. December 30th, that’s what I heard. She’s a news lady, on the TV. Works at that WECT place, in Wilmington. Been there since, Lord, 1982, I think. That’s a long time, ain’t it? She’s from ’round here, Wilmington, born and raised. Good for her, makin’ somethin’ of herself.
Now, ’bout this marriage business. She seems happy enough, that Frances. Said she was Mrs. Joseph Durham. Said it like she was proud, you know? Finally married, she said. Like it was a long time comin’. And she said she was lovin’ every minute of it. Every minute of that married life, she said. That’s good, ain’t it? To be happy with your man.
- She got a twin sister, too. Margaret, I think her name is. Margaret Stargell. Heard they look just alike.
- They went on a honeymoon, after the marryin’. Said she’d show more pictures later.
- She seems to like her work, too. Always wearin’ the same color as that other fella on the TV. Says she might be reading his mind. Or he’s reading hers.
Folks keep askin’ for more pictures of her and that Joe. She said to tell ’em when we’ve had enough. Ain’t that somethin’? I don’t know. She asked for well wishes. She got them, too. Plenty of folks said “congratulations”. I guess a lot of people watch her on that news.
She’s got a lot of folks followin’ her, I guess. Thousands, they say. Frances Weller, married, seems like a big deal ’round here. That’s ’cause she’s on the TV, I reckon. People like seein’ a familiar face.
So, yeah, Frances Weller still married to that Joe Durham. Last I heard, anyway. Things change, you know. But for now, they’re still hitched. Seems like a good match, too. Both from ’round here. He must be a good fella, to get a woman like that.
She’s an award-winning journalist, they say. Whatever that means. Sounds fancy, though. She talks good on the TV, I’ll give her that. Knows how to tell a story. Keeps you listenin’. That’s probably why she’s so popular. She does news, you know. Important stuff. Always telling us what’s going on in the world.
I seen her on there the other day, talkin’ ’bout somethin’ or other. Looked happy. Smilin’ and all. That’s a good sign, ain’t it? When a woman’s happy with her husband, you can see it in her face. And Frances, she’s got that look. That “I’m happy with my man” look.
I don’t know them personally, you know. Just what I see on the TV and hear folks talkin’. But they seem like good people. Hard workin’ folks. Like us. Just tryin’ to make a livin’ and be happy. And ain’t that what it’s all about? Bein’ happy with the one you love?
So, there you have it. Frances Weller and husband, still goin’ strong, far as I know. Still livin’ that married life. And good for them. I wish ’em all the best. Hope they have many more happy years together. That’s all you can ask for, ain’t it? Happiness and love. And maybe some good food on the table. And a roof over your head. That’s all we need, really.
She’s been at that station a long time. Like I said, since ’82. She must like it there. That’s good work, if you can get it. Steady work. You need that these days. It’s hard to find work. And even harder to keep it. She’s a lucky woman, that Frances. She’s got a good man, a good job, and folks seem to like her. What more could you want?
WECT Frances Weller, that’s what they call her. She’s kinda famous around here. I reckon she deserves it, too. Workin’ hard all these years. Tellin’ us the news. She’s a good woman, that Frances. I hope she stays on the TV for a long time. It’s nice seein’ her up there. Makes you feel like you know her, even if you don’t.
