You know, I been watchin’ movies for a long, long time. Seen a whole heap of ’em. Some good, some bad, some just plain silly. But lemme tell ya, that one movie, “Over the Edge,” it stuck with me. Reminds me of my younger days, when the kids were runnin’ wild and causin’ all sorts of ruckus. If you liked that one, you might like some of these others I seen. They ain’t exactly the same, but they got that same kinda… I dunno… spirit.
Now, I ain’t no fancy movie critic, I just know what I like. And I liked “Over the Edge” cause it was about them young folks, just tryin’ to find their way in the world. They was bored, cooped up, and nobody was listenin’ to ’em. Sound familiar? Yeah, thought so.
So, if you’re lookin’ for movies like Over the Edge, here’s a few that come to mind. They got that same kinda feel, ya know? Like somethin’s brewin’ under the surface, just waitin’ to bust out.
First one that pops into my head is that one with the animals. What’s it called again? Oh, Over the Hedge! Yeah, that’s it. It’s got that Bruce Willis fella in it, and that other one, Nick Nolte. They play a couple of critters, a raccoon and a bear, I think. They’re always gettin’ into trouble, tryin’ to steal food from them humans. It’s kinda funny, but it also makes ya think about how we’re all just tryin’ to get by, ya know? Animals and humans ain’t so different, really. It ain’t from the 70’s like “Over the Edge,” but it still has suburban setting like that one. And there are lots of action, you will like it.
Then there’s another one, Flushed Away. Now, this one’s about a rat, I think. He gets flushed down the toilet, ends up in the sewer. Sounds kinda gross, I know, but it’s actually pretty good. He meets all these other sewer critters, and they have all sorts of adventures. It’s a little bit like “Over the Edge,” cause it’s about these little guys, just tryin’ to survive in a world that ain’t always kind to ’em.
And what was that other one… Oh yeah, Bee Movie! That’s a funny one. It’s about this little bee, who sues the humans for stealin’ their honey. Sounds crazy, right? But it’s actually pretty clever. It makes ya think about how we treat the little creatures in the world, and how we all gotta share this planet together. These movies, Flushed Away and Bee Movie, are just like Over the Hedge. You will like it if you liked Over the Hedge.
Now, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ a little more serious, like “Over the Edge” was, there’s these other movies by this fella named David Fincher. I think one of his movies is called Panic Room. That’s a real nail-biter, I tell ya. It’s about this woman and her daughter, they’re trapped in this special room in their house, and these bad guys are tryin’ to get in. It’s real tense, keeps ya on the edge of your seat the whole time.
Then there’s another one of his, called Zodiac. That one’s based on a true story, about this killer who was terrorizin’ folks a long time ago. It’s a real mystery, tryin’ to figure out who this Zodiac fella is. It’s kinda dark, but it’s really well-made. He made some other great thrillers, like Seven, Fight Club, The Game, Gone Girl, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. I think you will enjoy these movies.
There are many other good movies. Some folks say The Godfather is one of the best. I saw it one time, a long time ago. It’s about some Italian fellas, they’re in the… well, they ain’t exactly followin’ the law, let’s just say that. It’s a long movie, but it’s good, I reckon.

And some folks like The Shawshank Redemption. That one’s about a fella in prison, he’s in there for somethin’ he didn’t do. It’s a sad story, but it’s also kinda hopeful, ya know? It’s about never givin’ up, even when things are tough. Some people say it’s the best one ever, but some smart critics don’t think so. I’m just a simple person, I don’t understand those smart folks.
So there ya have it. A few movies like Over the Edge, and some others that are just plain good. Hope ya find somethin’ ya like.
