Well, well, well, lemme tell ya about this lavender stuff. This flower, lavender, you know? It smells real good, like when you open up a window after it rains. And people, they like to mix it with other smelly things to make it, you know, even more smelly in a good way. It’s like when you add sugar to your tea, makes it sweeter, right?
This lavender, it’s good for lots of things. I heard it helps you sleep better. My neighbor, she puts a few drops on her pillow, and she sleeps like a baby. Lavender oil for sleep, they call it. I tried it once, and it was alright. I still like my old quilt better, though.
But this here lavender, it ain’t just for sleepin’. People use it for their skin too. They say it’s good for your face, makes it all smooth and clear. My granddaughter, she’s got some on her face all the time. Lavender oil for acne, they call that. I guess it works, cause her face is as smooth as a baby’s bottom.
Now, they say this lavender, you can mix it with other oils. Like, you know, them oranges and lemons. Lavender and citrus oil, a good mix, they say. Makes the whole house smell like a summer day. I like that. Reminds me of when I was a little girl, pickin’ oranges in the orchard.

- Lavender and Lime
You can mix lavender with lemon, too. That makes a real sharp, clean smell. Good for wakin’ you up in the morning, I reckon. Or maybe you like lime. Lavender and lime oil, that’s another one. Smells like them candies my grandson likes.
And then there’s this grapefruit. Lavender and grapefruit oil, that’s a fancy one. Don’t know much about that, but it sounds expensive. Probably smells good, though. All them fruits smell good with lavender.
And oh boy, bergamot, they say lavender and bergamot oil is a good pair. What in the tarnation is bergamot? Smells fancy, I bet. Probably costs a pretty penny too. And pomelo, what is that even? Lavender and pomelo oil, what’s next, lavender and turnip?
Now, I heard some folks mix lavender with somethin’ called “clary sage”. Lavender and clary sage, sounds like a fancy name for a weed to me. But, they say it smells good with lavender. I wouldn’t know, never smelled no clary sage. Maybe it grows in them fancy gardens.
And get this, they even mix it with tea tree oil. Lavender and tea tree oil, that’s a new one. Tea tree? Sounds like somethin’ you’d drink, not put on your skin. But hey, what do I know? Kids these days and their fancy oils.
Then there’s pine. You know, like them Christmas trees. Lavender and pine oil. I guess that would smell like a forest after a rain. Not a bad smell, I suppose. Reminds me of when my old man used to go huntin’ in the woods.
They say when you mix these oils, it’s like magic. Synergy essential oil blend, they call it. Sounds like hocus pocus to me. But I guess if it makes you feel good, then it’s alright. Like addin’ a pinch of salt to your stew, makes it taste better.
Some folks mix lavender with chamomile. Lavender and chamomile oil, they say it helps you relax. Chamomile is that flower that looks like a little daisy, right? I used to make tea with that when I was a little girl. Helps you sleep, they say. Maybe that’s why they mix it with lavender.
So, there you have it. This lavender, it’s a busy little flower. Mixes with all sorts of things. Oranges, lemons, tea trees, even them pine trees. Makes everything smell real nice, I guess. Just like when you bake a pie and the whole house smells like apples and cinnamon. It’s just like that, but with flowers and fruits. What essential oils mix well with lavender? Well, seems like just about everything under the sun!
Just remember, a little goes a long way. Don’t go pourin’ the whole bottle on yourself, you hear? Just a drop or two is all you need. And if you’re gonna put it on your skin, make sure you test it first. Don’t want no rashes or nothin’.
Alright, that’s enough talk about smelly oils for one day. I gotta go check on my chickens. They’re probably wonderin’ where their supper is.
