Well, howdy there! Let’s talk about this “fashion” thing, you know, the clothes and stuff. Seems like everybody’s always in a hurry, so they gotta shorten everything. So, how to abbreviate fashion? Let me tell ya, it ain’t rocket science.
First off, you got the plain and simple way. Just say “fash.” Yep, just like that. Like, “That’s a nice fash statement,” or “I like your fash sense.” Short and sweet, gets the job done. It ain’t fancy, but folks know what you mean.

- Fash – Short for fashion, real easy to remember.
Now, if you’re talkin’ about them fancy clothes factories, where they make all them clothes, they got their own lingo. They use things like “PPS” and “TOP.” Don’t ask me what it all means exactly, but it’s somethin’ about samples and makin’ sure the clothes turn out right.
- PPS – Pre-Production Sample, somethin’ ’bout checkin’ the clothes before they make a whole bunch.
- TOP – Top Of Production, means the clothes is just how they want ’em, I reckon.
Then there’s them “FDS” things. That’s for the cloth itself, you know, the stuff the clothes are made of. It tells you how the cloth will act, will it shrink when you wash it, will the color run. Important stuff, I guess, if you don’t want your clothes fallin’ apart after you wash ‘em.
- FDS – Fabric Data Sheet, tells you ’bout the cloth, how it washes and wears.
Now, if you’re on them computery things, like the Face-book or the Insta-gram, folks use all sorts of short words. Hashtags, they call ‘em. They put a little # sign in front of it. Like, #OOTD. That means “Outfit Of The Day.” You know, showin’ off what you’re wearin’. Kids these days, always showin’ off.
Sometimes, you just gotta make up your own shortenings. Like if you’re talkin’ about a “Bohemian Fashion Style,” you could just say “Boho-Fash.” Or if you like “Vintage Fashion,” maybe “Vin-Fash” works. Just make sure folks understand what you’re jabberin’ about, or you’ll sound like a fool.
You see, this fashion world, they got all these big words and long names. But regular folks like us, we ain’t got time for all that. We need it quick and easy. So, we shorten things up. It’s all about gettin’ the point across without wastin’ time. Like when I’m tellin’ my grandson to “Git yer shoes on!” I ain’t got time to say, “Please go and retrieve your footwear and put it upon your feet forthwith!” See? Short and sweet. Just like “fash”.
Fashion abbreviations ain’t just for young folks neither. Even us old hens can use ‘em. It makes ya sound hip, like ya know what’s goin’ on. Even if you don’t! Heck, I sometimes use these shortenings just to confuse the young’uns. They think they so smart with their phones and their internet, but I can sling some “fash” lingo with the best of ‘em!

So, there ya have it. A few ways to shorten that “fashion” word. Whether you’re talkin’ to your friends, writin’ somethin’ down, or just plain lazy, these shortenings come in handy. Remember, “fash” is always a good one, and if you’re feelin’ fancy, throw in a “PPS” or “FDS” to really impress ’em. And if all else fails, just make somethin’ up. Most folks won’t know the difference anyway!
And one more thing. Don’t go gettin’ all stressed out about it. Fashion’s supposed to be fun, right? Even if you’re just wearin’ overalls and a feed sack shirt like me, you can still be “fash-ionable.” Just be yourself and don’t worry about what everyone else thinks. That’s the best fashion advice I can give ya. Now git outta here and let me get back to my chores!
