Well, let me tell you, this game, BitLife, they call it. It’s a real head-scratcher, this thing. You can be anything in it! And my granddaughter, she’s always on about it. She says, “Grandma, you gotta try this, you can be a fashion designer!” Fashion designer, can you believe it? In my day, we just sewed what needed sewing. But this thing, it’s a whole other world.
So, how do you become this “fashion designer” in BitLife? She tried to explain it to me, bless her heart. It ain’t as simple as picking up a needle and thread, I tell ya. First off, you gotta be smart, which is obvious. Gotta have some brains to make those pretty things, I suppose. They call it “Smarts” in the game. You gotta have that up high. Like, way up high.
Then, she says, when you go to that college thing in the game, you pick something called “Graphic Designer.” Now, I don’t know what drawing pictures has to do with making clothes, but that’s what she says. Graphic Designer, that’s the ticket, she says. It helps you get to be a fashion designer, somehow.

- Get them “Smarts” real high. Brains are important, even in a game, it seems.
- Then, you gotta do these fashion shows. Over and over.
Now, here’s a thing. She says you don’t need to be no spring chicken to do this. Any age, she says. Young folks, old folks, anyone can be a fashion designer in this game. Imagine that! Back in my day, if you weren’t sewing by 16, you were behind! But here, you can just start whenever you want. Ain’t that something?
You gotta do these things they call “fashion shows.” Now, I’ve seen a fashion show on the TV once. Lots of skinny girls walking around in fancy clothes. In this game, you gotta do those shows, over and over, she says. And if you do good, they send you gifts! Gifts in a game! Who knew?
These gifts, they got fancy names. “Fast-fashion” and “haute couture.” I swear, these young folks and their fancy words. Sounds like something you’d order at a French restaurant, not something you wear. But that’s what they call it. And you need these things, these “fast-fashion” and “haute couture” things, to be a good fashion designer in the game. They say it’s good to be a fashion designer BitLife.
She was going on about some “God Mode” too. Sounds powerful, don’t it? Like you’re some kind of… well, god. She says it makes things easier, this God Mode. You can do all sorts of things that you can’t normally do. I don’t know much about it, but if it makes the game easier, I suppose that’s good. It might be better to have the BitLife God Mode.
Another thing, you should go to school. They say you gotta have a “degree.” Like a thermometer, but for your brain, I guess. You go to school for a long time, and they give you this paper that says you’re smart. And for this fashion stuff, you need a degree in “Art and Design.” More schoolin’ to make clothes. Who woulda thought?
And you gotta do things, not just sit around. Get some “experience,” they call it. Like when I learned to can tomatoes from my mama. You gotta practice. And you gotta meet people, talk to them. “Networking,” they call it. Like making a big net of people you know. So they can help you, I guess. They all want to be a fashion designer.

You also gotta make one of these “portfolios.” It’s like a picture book of all the things you made. You show it to people, and if they like it, maybe they’ll let you make clothes for them. It’s all very complicated, this fashion designer business. Not like the old days, that’s for sure. More to it than just knowing how to sew a straight line.
So, there you have it. That’s how you become a fashion designer in BitLife, according to my granddaughter. Lots of school, lots of drawing pictures, lots of talking to people. And these fashion shows, with the fancy gifts. It’s a lot of work for a game, if you ask me. But the young folks, they love it. And who am I to say it’s wrong? If they wanna be fashion designers, even in a game, well, more power to ’em. It’s better than getting into trouble, I suppose. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll teach them a thing or two about real life. You never know.
