Okay, so today I wanna talk about scarves. I mean, are they even in fashion anymore? I remember back in the day, my grandma used to knit these huge, bulky scarves that could probably double as a blanket. Fast forward to now, and I’m seeing all sorts of styles, from thin little silk things to those massive blanket scarves again. So, I decided to do a little experiment and see for myself what the deal is with scarves these days.
First, I raided my closet. I dug out every scarf I could find – some I hadn’t seen in years! I had this one fluffy, bright pink scarf that I used to love, and a bunch of those infinity scarves that were super popular a while back. I even found a silk scarf my mom gave me, still in its box.
Then, I hit the stores. I wanted to see what’s actually being sold right now. I went to a bunch of different places, from fast fashion spots to a couple of fancier stores. And you know what? Scarves are everywhere! There were chunky knit ones, for sure, but also a ton of lighter options. I saw a lot of silk and satin scarves, some with really cool patterns. And they weren’t just being displayed by themselves – they were styled on mannequins with all kinds of outfits.
Next, I started experimenting with wearing them myself. I tried tying them in different ways, draping them over my shoulders, even using them as belts. I took some pictures to keep track of what I liked and what looked totally ridiculous.
- I wrapped a big, chunky scarf around my neck a few times and paired it with a simple sweater and jeans. It was super cozy and actually looked pretty chic.
- I took a long, thin silk scarf and tied it around my neck like a choker. It felt a little fancy, but I could see it working with a dress or a nice blouse.
- I even tried using a scarf as a head wrap. It was a bit of a fail, to be honest, but I think with some practice, it could be a cool look.
My Findings
After all this, I’ve come to the conclusion that scarves are definitely still in fashion, but it’s not just about those giant wool ones anymore. There’s so much variety now, and you can really use them to add something extra to your outfit. I ended up buying a couple of new scarves – a lightweight patterned one for spring and a super soft cashmere one for when it gets cold again. They’re not just for keeping warm; they can really change up your whole look. So yeah, scarves are cool again, or maybe they never really went away. And hey, if you’re feeling bold, you can even try some of those new styles like wearing them as a top or in your hair, but I’m not sure if I’m quite there yet.
