Alright, let me tell ya somethin’ ’bout findin’ good pants, especially if you’re, you know, a little shorter and rounder in the middle, like me. They call it “petite apple shape,” sounds fancy, but it just means you ain’t a beanpole. So, listen up, ’cause I’ve been wearin’ pants for a good long while now, and I know a thing or two.

First off, don’t go buyin’ them low-rise pants. You know the kind, the ones that barely cover your behind? Them things are trouble. They’ll slip and slide, and next thing you know, you’re showin’ the world more than you bargained for. Not a pretty sight, let me tell ya. You need pants that sit higher, right up at your waist. They call ’em high-rise, I think. These kind keep everything tucked in nice and neat, no muffin top spillin’ over.
Now, let’s talk about the legs. You got all sorts of styles, skinny, straight, wide… it’s enough to make your head spin. But for us apple shapes, I say go for somethin’ with a little flare at the bottom. Bootcut, they call it, or maybe a slight flare. Why? Well, it balances things out, ya see? Makes you look a little longer and leaner. Straight legs are alright too, but stay away from those tight, skinny ones. They just make you look bigger in the middle.
- High-rise pants: These are your best friend. They hold everything in and make you look smoother.
- Bootcut or slight flare: These styles balance out your shape and make your legs look longer.
- Dark colors: Black and navy are always a good choice. They’re slimming and they go with everything.
- Stretchy fabric: Look for pants with a little bit of stretch. They’re more comfortable and they move with you.
Fabric matters too. Don’t go buyin’ stiff, scratchy stuff. You want somethin’ soft and a little stretchy. That way, you can move around easy, sit down without feelin’ like you’re gonna bust a seam. And another thing, dark colors are your friend. Black, navy, brown… they hide all sorts of sins. Light colors, well, they just draw attention to all the wrong places.
And listen, don’t be afraid to try things on. What looks good on that skinny mannequin in the store might not look so good on you, and that’s just fine. Everybody’s different. Go to the store, grab a bunch of different styles and sizes, and try ’em on. Don’t just look at yourself in the mirror, move around! Bend over, sit down, walk around… make sure those pants are comfortable and they stay put.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t wear certain things just ’cause you’re not a size two. That’s a load of hogwash. There’s pants out there for everyone, you just gotta find what works for you. And remember, comfort is key. If you ain’t comfortable, you ain’t gonna look good, no matter what you’re wearin’.
And finally, don’t worry too much about what other folks think. If you feel good in them pants, that’s all that matters. You wear ’em with confidence, and you’ll look just fine. So go on, get yourself some good pants, and strut your stuff. You deserve it.

I almost forgot! Pockets! You gotta have good pockets. Big enough to hold your keys and your phone and maybe a little bit of cash. And make sure them pockets are sewn in good, so they don’t rip. Nothin’ worse than a ripped pocket, I tell ya.
One more thing, don’t be afraid to get your pants altered if they don’t fit just right. Sometimes, you find a pair you love, but they’re a little too long, or maybe the waist is a bit too loose. Find yourself a good seamstress and she can fix ’em right up. It’s worth a few extra dollars to get pants that fit you perfectly. It can make a world of difference.
