Hey everyone, today I wanted to talk about something that’s been on my mind a lot lately – the last week of Jesus’s life. It’s a heavy topic, I know, but it’s also incredibly powerful and moving. So, I went on this little journey to really dig into what happened during those final days, and I wanted to share my experience with you all.
First, I looked for some good resources to get a clear picture of the events. I stumbled upon this PDF, “The Last Week of Jesus’s Life,” and it turned out to be pretty useful. It wasn’t some fancy academic paper, just a straightforward timeline of what happened each day, piecing together the accounts from the four Gospels.
I started by reading through the whole thing once, just to get a general overview. Then, I went back and started taking notes, day by day. It was a bit like putting together a puzzle, you know? Each Gospel gave a slightly different perspective, and I was trying to see the bigger picture.
Monday
On Monday, I read about Jesus going into the Temple and getting angry at the money changers. He was really upset about how they were disrespecting such a holy place.
Tuesday
Tuesday was a big day for teaching. The PDF highlighted some key discussions Jesus had with the religious leaders. They were trying to trap him with tricky questions, like “Which is the greatest commandment?” and “How can David’s Son be his Lord?” Jesus’s answers were always so wise and insightful.
One section talked about Jesus’s teachings on the resurrection. He said, “He is risen,” which gave me goosebumps. It’s such a powerful statement of hope and triumph over death.
Wednesday through Saturday
- I delved into the events of Wednesday, where Jesus spent time in Bethany and was anointed with expensive perfume. It’s a beautiful story of devotion and sacrifice.
- Thursday was all about the Last Supper. Reading about Jesus washing his disciples’ feet was really humbling. It showed how much he loved them and wanted to serve them, even though he was their Lord.
- Then came Good Friday. This was the hardest part to read. The betrayal, the trial, the crucifixion… it was all so brutal and heartbreaking. But even in the midst of all that suffering, Jesus showed incredible forgiveness and love.
- Saturday was a day of waiting and mourning. The disciples must have felt so lost and confused. But little did they know what was coming next.
Easter Sunday
And then, of course, there was Easter Sunday. The resurrection! It changed everything. Reading about the empty tomb and the appearances of Jesus to his followers filled me with so much joy and hope.
This whole process of studying the last week of Jesus’s life was such a moving experience. It made me appreciate his sacrifice even more and deepened my understanding of his love and teachings. It wasn’t always easy to read, but I feel like I came out of it with a renewed sense of faith and a greater appreciation for the Easter story.
If any of you are interested in learning more about this, I highly recommend finding a good resource and taking the time to really study it. It’s a journey worth taking.
