Alright, folks, let’s talk about these “7 Rules of Life” things I stumbled upon. I saw this PDF floating around, and, well, I’m a sucker for anything that promises to make life a little less chaotic. So, I decided to give it a shot and see if it’s all hype or if there’s some actual wisdom in there.
My Experiment Begins
First things first, I printed out that PDF. I’m old-school like that; I like to scribble notes and highlight stuff. Digital is fine, but sometimes you just need paper, you know?

Then I found a quiet spot. This was key. No way I could focus with the kids screaming and the TV blaring. So, early morning, coffee in hand, I sat down and actually read the thing.
Diving into the “Rules”
Okay, I won’t bore you with every single detail, but here’s the gist of how I tackled each “rule”:
- Rule 1: Something about letting go of the past. I started a journal. Sounds cheesy, I know, but I figured writing down all the dumb stuff I’m still hung up on might help me, well, let go.
- Rule 2: This one was about ignoring other people’s opinions. Easier said than done! I tried to actively catch myself caring too much about what others think. It’s a work in progress, for sure.
- Rule 3: Time heals, blah blah. Instead of just nodding along, I decided to be more patient with myself. Like, actually giving myself time to process stuff instead of rushing to “feel better.”
- Rule 4: Don’t compare yourself to others. Ha! I deleted Instagram for a week. That helped, a little. It’s a constant battle, though.
- Rule 5: Stop overthinking. For this, I started meditating. Just 5 minutes a day with one of those apps. It’s surprisingly helpful for quieting the mental chatter.
- Rule 6: Happiness is an inside job, or something like that. I started a “gratitude list.” Again, sounds corny, but writing down even the small good things makes a difference.
- Rule 7: Smile more. I literally practiced smiling in the mirror. Felt ridiculous, but hey, maybe it’ll become a habit.
The Results (So Far)
So, it’s been a couple of weeks. Am I a completely transformed, enlightened human being? Nope. But, I do feel… different. A little calmer, maybe a bit more focused.
The journaling helped me realize some recurring patterns in my thinking. The meditation is definitely making a difference in my stress levels. And the whole “not caring what others think” thing? Still working on that, but I’m more aware of it now.
The big takeaway for me is that it’s not about magically following these “rules” perfectly. It’s about the effort. It’s about actually trying to implement these ideas in a practical way, even if it’s messy and imperfect.
I am going to keep at it,because every little bit helps.
