Okay, so the other day I was thinking, “It’s getting close to Christmas, I wanna see some seriously awesome lights.” And Malibu, with all those fancy houses, seemed like the perfect place to go. So, I grabbed my camera, jumped in the car, and started my little adventure.
Getting Started
First things first, I needed a plan. I did a little digging around on my phone – just some quick searches. I was looking for any tips or recommendations.

The Drive & The Search
The drive to Malibu itself was pretty nice. Sun setting, ocean views… you know, the classic California stuff. Once I got closer, I started cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway. My eyes were peeled, looking for anything that glittered.
I started by just driving slowly, seeing what I could find on my own. I figured the big, fancy houses would probably have the best displays, right? So, I turned off the main highway and started exploring some of the side streets.
Finding the Good Stuff
It was a bit of a hit-and-miss situation, to be honest. Some houses had a few simple strings of lights, nothing too crazy. But then… BAM! I’d turn a corner and see a house that was totally decked out. We’re talking inflatable snowmen, flashing reindeer, the whole nine yards.
- Pro Tip: Don’t be afraid to get off the main road. The side streets are where the real gems are hidden.
- Another Tip: Go after dark, obviously! The later it gets, the darker it is, and the better the lights look.
I pulled over a few times, snapped some pictures, and just enjoyed the festive vibes. It’s kind of magical, you know? All these houses lit up, spreading that Christmas cheer.
Wrapping Up
After a couple of hours of exploring, my camera roll was full, and my Christmas spirit was definitely boosted. I headed back home, feeling pretty good about my little light-seeing mission.
It wasn’t some super organized event or anything. It was more of a spontaneous adventure, and that’s what made it fun.
