Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with Tuckernuck lately. Their style is just so effortlessly chic, you know? I wanted to see if I could recreate some of their looks without, well, completely emptying my bank account. So, I decided to try and “dress like Tuckernuck” for a week. This is how it went down.
Day 1: The Classic Shirtdress
First up, I went for a classic shirtdress look. I already owned a simple navy blue shirtdress, thankfully. Nothing fancy, just a basic one I got ages ago.
- Step 1: The Dress. Put on the dress. Done! This was the easy part.
- Step 2: Accessorize. I added a brown leather belt to cinch in the waist – instant upgrade.
- Step 3: Shoes. I threw on some simple brown leather sandals. I felt very “Nantucket preppy,” even though I was just going to the grocery store.
Day 2: Stripes and White Jeans
Tuckernuck is ALL about stripes. I dug out a striped boatneck tee (another basic I already had).
- Step 1: The Top. Striped tee, check.
- Step 2: The Bottoms. Paired it with my trusty white jeans. I always feel a little nervous wearing white jeans, like I’m one spilled coffee away from disaster, but hey, gotta commit to the look, right?
- Step 3: Shoes Again. I wore some simple white sneakers. Easy peasy.
Day 3: The “Effortless” Maxi Dress
This was a bit trickier. I don’t own a ton of maxi dresses, but I found one in a light floral print. It wasn’t exactly Tuckernuck, but it was close enough.
- Step 1: Dress On. The dress was a little flowy, which is good.
- Step 2: The Jacket (Maybe?). I debated adding a denim jacket, but it felt too casual. I skipped it.
- Step 3: Wedges. I decided to elevate the look (literally) with some espadrille wedges.
Day 4: Bold Color Pop
Tuckernuck uses a lot of bright colors so I chose this gorgeous royal blue top I had.
- Step 1:That bold top. Royal blue and ready to go.
- Step 2: White pants again. Yes I am wearing it again for that color pop.
- Step 3: Simple Necklace. I just added my favorite gold pendant to it.
Day 5 to Day 7: Mix and Match
I realize I kind of built a basic Tuckernuck-Esque capsule collection that I can mix and match through the rest of the week. I did exactly that.
The big takeaway? It’s totally doable to get that Tuckernuck vibe without spending a fortune. It’s really about classic pieces, good tailoring, and a few key accessories. And, you know, maybe a healthy dose of pretending you’re about to hop on a sailboat.
