Okay, here’s my blog post about finding brands similar to L.*, told from my personal experience:
So, I’ve been a huge fan of L.* for, like, forever. Their stuff is just so well-made and lasts forever, you know? But sometimes, I want to branch out a bit, try something different, or maybe find something at a slightly different price point. So, I started digging around to find some alternatives. It wasn’t super easy, to be honest, but I found some good options.
My Quest for L.* Alternatives
First, I jotted down what I really love about L.*. It’s the classic style, the durability (seriously, my Bean boots are ancient and still going strong!), and that outdoorsy vibe. I needed to find brands that hit those same notes.
I started by hitting up Google, obviously. I typed in things like “brands like L.*” and “L.* competitors”. That gave me a bunch of articles and forum threads to sift through. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but I started making a list.
Then, I spent some time browsing those brands’ websites. I looked at their product photos, read their “about us” sections, and checked out their customer reviews. I wanted to get a feel for their overall style and quality.

- Eddie Bauer:I remembered another solid contender.
- Orvis:I noticed Orvis had a similar preppy, outdoorsy feel, but often at a higher price point.
- Filson: I’ve seen it and it seems rugged and high-quality, but it’s definitely a pricier option.
Finally, I decided to order a few things from a couple of the brands that seemed most promising. I figured the best way to really compare them was to get my hands on the actual products. I’m still waiting for one of the orders to arrive, The other, though? Pretty impressed so far!
