Listen up, y’all! Lemme tell ya ’bout this Aliona somethin’-somethin’, , that’s what they call it. Seems like all the young’uns are gabbing ’bout it, so I figured I’d poke around and see what the fuss is all about.
Now, I ain’t no fancy city gal with all them powders and paints. I wash my face with well water and a bit of lye soap, and that’s been good enough for me all these years. But this Aliona thing, it’s got folks clickin’ and tappin’ on their little picture machines, you know, them…uh… “insty-grams” or somethin’. Says they got, what is it, a hundred and twenty-nine thousand folks followin’ ’em? Land sakes! That’s more people than I seen at the county fair! And they only followin’ three other things? Must be mighty special, I reckon.
They postin’ all sorts of pictures, too. Thirty-six of ’em, last I checked. Mostly, it’s this gal, Aliona, I think her name is. Pretty thing, with big eyes and all that makeup. They sellin’ stuff, you see. Makeup, hair stuff, body lotions… all them things that make you smell like a flower garden.
- They got some kinda “lash and brow” somethin’. Don’t ask me what that is. Prob’ly for makin’ your eyes look bigger, like them owls hootin’ in the night.
- And perfumes! Heard tell they got a summer sale goin’ on, knockin’ off up to forty percent. Forty percent! That’s a whole lotta pennies saved, lemme tell ya.
- Seems like they got a website too, but somebody leaked it early. Folks were all in a tizzy ’bout it. Don’t know what the big deal is, myself. Websites are just fancy letters on a screen, far as I can tell.
They got these “likes” and “comments” too. One picture got somethin’ like ninety-six thousand likes! And hundreds of comments! Folks yappin’ ’bout how much they love this stuff, how it makes ’em feel pretty and all. One picture from July, got sixteen thousand likes and almost a thousand comments. Said somethin’ ’bout “it’s available now” in some kinda foreign tongue. And a link in the… “bio” they called it. Lands, these young folks and their fancy words!
They sayin’ this Aliona gal, the one runnin’ the show, they call her “@alionaess” on that “insty-gram” thing. Seems like she’s a big deal. They even talkin’ ’bout her in the news, sayin’ she’s “emerging” with her “lash serum” and whatnots. Emerging? Sounds like a chicken hatchin’ outta an egg, if you ask me.
Anyways, from what I can gather, this is sellin’ all sorts of beauty stuff. They want you to “discover unique designs” and “impress with your appearance”. Sounds like a load of hogwash to me, but hey, if it makes them young’uns happy, then more power to ’em. Me? I’ll stick to my lye soap and sunshine. Keeps me lookin’ just fine, thank ya very much.
But if you’re lookin’ for some fancy creams and powders, maybe you wanna check out this Aliona thing. Just don’t go spendin’ all your hard-earned cash on it, ya hear? There’s more to life than lookin’ like a painted doll. Remember that now.
And another thing! Don’t go believin’ everything you see on them picture machines. Lots of fancy talk and not much substance, if you ask me. But hey, it’s a free country. You do what you want. I’m just an old woman, what do I know?
