Well, hello there! Let me tell ya somethin’ about these here checkered cosmetic bags. I’ve seen a whole bunch of ’em in my time, and let me tell ya, they ain’t all the same.
First off, what in the tarnation is a “checkered cosmetic bag” anyway? Sounds fancy, but it just means a little bag with squares on it, ya know? For puttin’ yer makeup and stuff in. Some are big, some are small, some are made of that shiny plastic stuff, and some are soft like an old quilt.

Now, I’ve seen some real purdy ones, with all sorts of colors. Red and black, blue and white, even pink and green! Some of them young girls, they like the bright colors, but me, I always liked a good ol’ black and white check. Classic, ya know? Like a good checkerboard.
These bags, they come in all shapes and sizes too. Some are little, just big enough for a lipstick and a powder. Those are good for carryin’ in yer purse. Then there are the bigger ones, the ones you can fit yer whole face in, practically! Them’s good for travelin’, when you need to take all yer lotions and potions with ya.
- The little ones, they’re cute as a button, but they don’t hold much.
- The big ones, they can hold a lot, but they can get heavy.
- And then there’s the ones in between, just right for everyday use.
And the material, that matters too. Them plastic ones, they’re easy to clean. Just wipe ’em down with a wet rag and you’re good to go. But the cloth ones, they’re softer and prettier, but they can get stained somethin’ awful if you spill yer makeup in ’em. I had one, a real purdy blue and white one, and I spilled my face powder all over it. Never did get that stain out, no matter how hard I scrubbed.
I’ve seen some that cost an arm and a leg, and some that are cheap as dirt. Honestly, I don’t see the point in spendin’ a lot of money on one of these things. A bag’s a bag, right? As long as it holds yer stuff, that’s all that matters. But then again, some folks like to have nice things, and I ain’t gonna fault ’em for that.
Now, how do ya keep these bags clean? Well, like I said, the plastic ones are easy. Just wipe ’em down. The cloth ones, you might have to wash ’em. Some folks say you can put ’em in the washin’ machine, but I wouldn’t risk it. I always just wash mine by hand, in the sink with a little bit of soap. And if you get makeup on it, well, that’s a whole ‘nother story. Sometimes you can get it out with a little bit of makeup remover, but sometimes, it’s just stuck there for good.
One thing I will say, it’s mighty handy to have a bag with compartments. You know, little pockets and dividers to keep yer stuff organized. Otherwise, everything just jumbles together and you can’t find nothin’. I had one bag, it was just one big ol’ pocket, and I swear, I spent half my time rummagin’ around in there tryin’ to find my lipstick. Drove me batty, it did.

So, there ya have it. My two cents on checkered cosmetic bags. They ain’t the most excitin’ things in the world, but they’re mighty useful. And if you find one you like, well, hold onto it tight. ‘Cause a good bag is hard to find.
And remember, whether it’s cheap or fancy, big or small, checkered or not, a makeup bag is just a bag. It’s what’s inside that counts. But a purdy bag sure does make things a little bit nicer, don’t ya think?
Anyways, I gotta go now. Got a whole lotta nothin’ to do, and I best get started on it. You take care now, ya hear?
