Alright, let’s gab about them Delaware beaches, the ones good for the whole family, you know, the kids and all. I heard some folks callin’ ’em “family-friendly,” sounds fancy, but it just means the little ‘uns won’t get into too much trouble there.
Now, I ain’t been to all the beaches in the world, but I know a thing or two about what makes a beach good for families. First off, it gotta be safe. No crazy waves or currents tryin’ to snatch the kids away. And clean, too! Nobody wants to play in a pile of trash. That’s just common sense, ain’t it?
Rehoboth Beach, that’s a popular one. Lots of folks go there, so you know it can’t be too bad. It’s got this boardwalk thing, a long wooden path where you can walk and walk. The kids love it, runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off. You got shops and places to eat right there, so you don’t gotta go far for nothin’. And the sand, it’s soft and kinda golden, good for buildin’ them sandcastles. My grandbaby, she loves makin’ them castles, even if they ain’t no good.
- Clean sand: good for sandcastles
- Boardwalk: fun for walking and shopping
- Lots of food: easy to find a bite to eat
Then there’s Dewey Beach. Now, this one’s a bit livelier, I hear. More for the young folks, the ones who like to stay up late and make a ruckus. But it’s still got a beach, and the water’s just as wet as anywhere else. So if you don’t mind a little noise, it could be alright. Just keep a close eye on them young’uns, you hear? They can get lost in a crowd faster than a fly in a buttermilk pail.
Bethany Beach, now that’s a quieter one. More my speed, these days. It’s got a nice little town, real peaceful like. The beach is pretty good too, not too crowded. Good for just sittin’ and watchin’ the waves. And they got them lifeguards, watchin’ out for folks. That makes a body feel safer, you know? Especially with them little ones splashin’ around like puppies.
Let’s not forget Lewes Beach. I tell ya, this one’s got a special charm. It’s on the bay, so the water’s calmer. That’s a big plus for the little swimmers. And the town, it’s real historic, lots of old buildings and such. You can take the kids for a walk and tell ’em stories about the old days. Might not interest them much, but it’s good for ’em to learn a little somethin’. They got them parks there too, with swings and slides. Kids always like them swings.
Now, when you’re takin’ the family to the beach, you gotta think about more than just the sand and water. You gotta think about where you’re gonna stay. Them hotels can cost a pretty penny, let me tell ya. But there’s all sorts of places, from them fancy resorts to them little motels. You just gotta find one that fits your pocketbook. And food too, kids are always hungry, like little bottomless pits. So you gotta find places to eat that won’t break the bank. Luckily, most of these beach towns got plenty of choices, from them fancy restaurants to them burger joints.
And don’t forget the sunscreen! Sun’s strong out there, especially in the summer. You don’t want them kids gettin’ burnt to a crisp. Slather ’em up good, like you’re butterin’ a biscuit. And hats and sunglasses too, keep that sun outta their eyes. A burnt kid is a cranky kid, and nobody wants that on a beach trip.
Getting to the beach is another thing to consider. Some of ’em are easy to get to, right off the highway. Others, you gotta drive a bit, maybe take a ferry. Just plan ahead, you know? Nothin’ worse than gettin’ lost with a car full of screaming kids.
And one last thing, about them beach rules. Every beach has ’em, so pay attention. No glass bottles on the beach, that’s a big one. Don’t want nobody steppin’ on broken glass. And keep an eye on your trash, pack it out with ya. Leave the beach cleaner than you found it, that’s what I always say. It’s just good manners, something these young folks need to learn.
So, there you have it. A little somethin’ about them Delaware beaches, the ones good for families. They ain’t perfect, mind you, but they’re a good place to spend a day, or a week, with the kids. Just remember to be safe, be smart, and have fun. And don’t forget the sunscreen!
One more thing, if you are planning a trip, it’s always a good idea to check online for hotel deals and stuff. You can often find better prices than just showing up. And, read some reviews too, see what other folks are saying. Helps you avoid the bad spots. Now, get out there and enjoy that beach, you hear? You deserve it.
