Okay, so last weekend, I was feeling super restless. You know, that feeling where you just need to get out of town? I decided a quick getaway to Connecticut was in order. No real plan, just a need for a change of scenery.
First thing I did was hop on my phone and do some quick searching for cute towns in CT. I stumbled upon a few that looked promising – lots of antique shops, you know, that classic New England vibe.

Getting There
Saturday morning, I packed a small bag – seriously, just the essentials. Jeans, a couple of sweaters, my favorite boots. Threw in a book I’d been meaning to read and my camera, of course. I didn’t even bother making a playlist for the drive, I just wanted to hit the road and see where it took me.
The drive itself was pretty chill. I stopped at a random diner for breakfast – huge pancakes, crispy bacon, the works. Fueling up for the adventure, right?
Exploring the Towns
I ended up in this adorable little town, I swear, it was straight out of a movie. Main Street was lined with these charming old buildings, most of them housing antique shops or little boutiques. I spent hours just wandering around, popping in and out of stores.
- I found this amazing vintage scarf, all silk and with this really cool pattern. Total score!
- I also grabbed a coffee at a local bakery – seriously, the smell of fresh bread was intoxicating.
- I even chatted with a few of the shop owners, they were all so friendly and full of stories.
The Evening
I found a cozy inn to crash in and scored a great rate. The room was simple, clean, and had a small balcony.
Checked into the Inn and I took a little walk.
For dinner, I grabbed some recommendations from the locals to find a little local restaurant and I had the best clam chowder.

Then watched the stars from my balcony, and went to bed.
Heading Home
Sunday morning, I grabbed a quick breakfast at the inn’s dining room – more coffee, obviously – and then hit the road again. I took a slightly different route home, just to see some different scenery.
Honestly, the whole weekend was exactly what I needed. No stress, no plans, just exploring and relaxing. It was the perfect little reset. Sometimes, you just gotta get away, even if it’s just for a day or two.
