Okay, so I’ve been seeing this book, “A Winter in New York,” pop up everywhere lately. You know, the one by Josie Silver? It’s got this cozy, romantic vibe that just screams “curl up with a hot chocolate and read me!” So, naturally, I got curious. I mean, who doesn’t love a good winter romance set in the magical city of New York?
First, I went to find the book. I ended up getting it from this place called the New York Review Books – turns out they’re the ones who published it. I quickly found some info about an app, which I later learned was from the same people. They have an app, who knew? Apparently, you can get it on the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. I didn’t download it myself since I had the physical book, but it’s cool they offer subscriptions through the app for those who are not current subscribers.
Anyway, back to the book. The story is about this young chef, Iris, who moves to New York City. I guess she’s trying to escape something from her past and is looking for a fresh start, which I guess most of us can relate to at some point. The city, big and bustling as it is, kind of throws her off at first. She is quickly intimidated by the scope and action of the city. But she makes this new best friend, Bobby, and things start looking up.
Then there’s this whole thing about a secret family recipe that Iris stumbles upon. This part is where the romance comes in because it seems like this recipe might lead her to the love and life she’s been searching for. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say it involves a guy named Gio, and things get pretty interesting.
I gotta say, the whole “secret recipe” thing got me hooked. It’s like a little mystery mixed in with the romance, which I really enjoyed. Plus, the descriptions of New York in the wintertime are just so vivid. I could practically feel the cold air and see the twinkling lights. It really transported me there, which is exactly what I want from a book like this.
- Started reading: I dove in on a particularly chilly evening.
- Got invested: Iris’s story grabbed me from the get-go.
- Felt the magic: The New York setting was perfect.
- Finished it in: A couple of days, couldn’t put it down!
The Verdict
So, is “A Winter in New York” worth the hype? For me, it was a big yes. It’s not a literary masterpiece or anything, but it’s a really enjoyable, heartwarming read. Some friends on the internet said ““A Winter in New York” is a must read that will warm your heart on even the coldest of winter days.” and I have to agree! It’s the kind of book that leaves you with a smile on your face and maybe a slight urge to book a trip to New York City. If you’re looking for a cozy, feel-good romance with a touch of mystery and a whole lot of charm, you should definitely give this one a try. It might not have been a perfect 5-star read for me, but it sure was close!
