Alright, let’s talk about my recent adventure into the world of glamping. Now, I’ve always been more of a “sleep under the stars, no tent needed” kind of guy, but I figured, why not try something new? My buddy had been bugging me for ages to go, and I finally caved. This wasn’t just any camping trip – we’re talking glamping, people. Fancy camping. And we were heading to Northern California, specifically to the Yuba River area in Nevada County.
First things first, I did a bit of digging online to see what our options were. You know, a quick search to see what kind of glamping spots were out there. There are a bunch, but we settled on this one place that had yurts. Yes, yurts! I’d only seen those in pictures, so I was pretty stoked to actually sleep in one.

We booked the place a few weeks in advance. You gotta do that, especially if you’re going during a popular time, like we did. It was pretty easy – picked our dates, paid online, and boom, we were set. They sent us a confirmation email with all the details, directions, and what to expect. Pretty standard stuff.
The day finally came, and we packed up the car. It felt weird not having to pack a tent or sleeping bags, but hey, that’s the beauty of glamping. We just brought clothes, some food, and, of course, a few beers. The drive up to Nevada County was awesome. Beautiful scenery, winding roads, and the anticipation of chilling by the river.
We got to the place, and it was even better than the pictures. The yurt was set up near the Yuba River. The sound of the water was immediately calming. We checked in with the folks running the place. They were super friendly, gave us a quick tour, and showed us the ropes. The yurt itself was pretty spacious. It had a comfy bed, a small table, and even a little deck outside where you could just sit and enjoy the view. I mean, they had all you want. We did not bring other stuff such as sleeping bags. You could just live in it for several days.
We spent the next couple of days just taking it easy. We swam in the river, did a bit of hiking, and just hung out by the yurt. Evenings were spent grilling some food, enjoying the beers we brought, and just chatting under the stars. It was so peaceful. No city noise, no distractions, just nature and good company. I did not even think of any of the business things.
One of the highlights had to be just sitting on the deck of the yurt in the mornings, sipping coffee, and watching the river flow by. It was one of those moments where you just feel completely at peace. I even started reading the book I brought, which is something I hadn’t done in ages.
Leaving was tough. I could have easily stayed there for a week, just enjoying the tranquility. But, you know, real life calls. We packed up, said our goodbyes to the hosts, and hit the road.

Some Tips for you guys:
- Book in advance
- Check what is included
- Enjoy it
All in all, it was a fantastic experience. Glamping by the Yuba River in a yurt? Definitely something I’d recommend. It’s a great way to experience the outdoors without sacrificing too much comfort. And Northern California? What a beautiful place. I’ll be back, that’s for sure.
