Okay, so me and the wife needed to get away for a weekend, you know, just to chill and reconnect. We decided on Connecticut, ’cause it’s not too far, but it feels like a whole different world. I did a bit of digging, found some cool spots that looked perfect for couples. Let me tell you about it.
First off, I started looking into places with a view. I mean, who doesn’t love a good view, right? Found this description about somewhere “Right on the picturesque waters of New England”. Sounded pretty sweet, so I dug deeper. Turns out there are tons of spots like that in Connecticut. They got the shoreline, they got rivers, they got lakes – take your pick.

Then, I stumbled upon this place called The Inn at Woodstock Hill, up in what they call the “Quiet Corner”. It looked super peaceful and romantic, all old-fashioned charm and whatnot. We started thinking maybe a place like that, kind of tucked away, would be just what we needed. No hustle and bustle, just some quiet time together.
We made a list of a few other inns and bed and breakfasts, some by the water, some more inland, in these cute little towns. I was actually surprised, ’cause I always thought of Connecticut as just, like, a state you drive through to get somewhere else. But it turns out, it’s got a lot of hidden gems. Like, they say “Little, unassuming Connecticut can be a surprisingly romantic place.” And from what I was seeing, they weren’t lying.
- Researched online for places with scenic views.
- Discovered The Inn at Woodstock Hill in the “Quiet Corner”.
- Considered the appeal of a peaceful, tucked-away location.
- Explored other inns and B&Bs in various towns.
- Realized Connecticut has more to offer than initially thought.
We spent a good chunk of a Saturday just going through websites, checking out pictures, reading reviews. We’d mark the ones we liked, compare what they offered. Some had spas, some had fancy restaurants, some were just cozy and simple. It was fun, actually, kind of like planning a mini-adventure.
Finally, we narrowed it down to a couple of places. We talked about what we really wanted out of the weekend – did we want to be active and explore, or just relax and do nothing? We ended up choosing a place that was kind of in between. It was near the water, so we could take walks and enjoy the scenery, but it also had a nice, quiet vibe where we could just hang out and read, or talk, or whatever. And it had a fireplace! The wife loves fireplaces. That definitely helped seal the deal.
Our Decision Making
So, yeah, that’s how we planned our little romantic getaway to Connecticut. It took a bit of work, but it was worth it. We ended up having an amazing time. Just what the doctor ordered. It felt good to reconnect and just enjoy each other’s company without all the usual distractions. Connecticut, you surprised us! We’ll definitely be back.
