Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another deep dive into the beauty world. Today, I’m tackling a question that’s been on my mind for a while: Does NYX Cosmetics test on animals? I’ve been using their products for a bit, and I gotta say, I love their stuff. But lately, I’ve been trying to be more conscious about the ethics behind the brands I support. So, I figured it was time to do some digging.
First things first, I went straight to the source and checked out NYX’s website. They had a pretty clear statement saying they’re 100% cruelty-free and have been since they started back in 1999. I saw that they’re also certified by PETA, which is a good sign. But, you know, I like to double-check these things, so I kept digging.
Next, I started browsing some forums and articles about cruelty-free beauty. I found out that NYX is cruelty-free but not completely vegan. Apparently, some of their products still contain animal-derived ingredients. That’s a bummer, but it’s good to know they’re at least not testing on animals.
- I learned that NYX doesn’t sell in places where animal testing is required by law.
- They meet certain criteria to avoid animal testing in China, like selling only ‘general’ cosmetics.
Then I stumbled upon this thing called “The Good Shopping Guide,” and they gave NYX a pretty low ethical rating. Turns out, NYX is owned by L’Oral, which, from what I gathered, isn’t exactly known for being the most ethical company out there. That’s a bit of a red flag, to be honest.
So, here’s the deal: NYX doesn’t test on animals, which is awesome. They’re certified by PETA, and that’s reassuring. But they’re not entirely vegan, and their parent company has some questionable practices. It’s a mixed bag, really.
My final thoughts
I’m glad I did this research because now I have a clearer picture of where NYX stands. I’ll probably still use some of their products because I do like them, but I might start looking into other cruelty-free and vegan options more seriously. It’s all about finding that balance, right? Anyway, that’s my two cents on the matter. Let me know what you guys think in the comments!
