Okay, so I’ve been following Jaclyn Hill for a while now, ever since she blew up on YouTube. I remember when she first launched Jaclyn Cosmetics – it felt like a huge deal at the time. I even bought a few of her highlighters, and I gotta say, they were pretty good! But lately, I’ve been noticing some changes.
First, I saw a video where she said she was shutting down her other brands, Jaclyn Roxanne and Koze. She made it sound like they weren’t really working out for her, you know? So I started to wonder about Jaclyn Cosmetics. Was it next on the chopping block? I wasn’t actively looking for answers, just something that I was thinking about.
Then, I noticed something on the Jaclyn Cosmetics Instagram page – a note from Jaclyn herself, saying that the brand was closing. It wasn’t totally unexpected, but still, it made me a little sad. I went back to check the stuff I’d heard about Morphe, the company that owned Jaclyn Cosmetics. Apparently, they had some financial troubles of their own. They filed for bankruptcy last year, which probably didn’t help things.
After hearing the news, I dug a little deeper and found out that Morphe’s parent company, Forma Brands, also went bankrupt. And it turns out, Morphe owed Jaclyn a couple of million dollars! Then, Forma got bought out by Morphe’s creditors. It’s all a bit of a mess, honestly.
So, to piece it all together: I started by following Jaclyn Hill and her brand launches. Then, I noticed her shutting down her other brands, which made me think. Next, I saw the announcement on Instagram about Jaclyn Cosmetics closing. I remembered hearing about Morphe’s financial issues and decided to look into that a bit more. Finally, I connected all the dots and realized that the bankruptcy of Morphe and its parent company probably played a big role in Jaclyn Cosmetics shutting down.
It’s a bummer to see Jaclyn Cosmetics go. I mean, yeah, it’s just makeup, but it was also kinda cool to see a YouTuber build her own beauty empire. It just goes to show that even with a huge following, the business side of things can be really tough.
