So, I’ve been using this makeup brand, Mented Cosmetics, for a while now. I really liked their stuff, especially since they focused on shades for all skin tones. But recently, I noticed something was off. My usual go-to products were always out of stock, and the website seemed… abandoned. Naturally, I got curious and started digging around to see what was up.
My Investigation Begins
First, I tried to place an order on their website just to see what would happen. Nothing. No confirmation, no updates, just a digital black hole. That’s when the alarm bells really started ringing. I mean, what kind of company just stops fulfilling orders without any notice?
I hit up Google, trying to find any news or announcements. I found out that Mented Cosmetics, this brand I loved, had been bought out by a company called West Lane Capital Partners. Apparently, this happened because Mented was trying to expand its beauty brand portfolio.
Digging a little deeper, I learned that Mented was going to be part of Blooming Brands, which is also under West Lane. Blooming Brands has other beauty stuff like Blossom, so I guess it made sense from a business perspective. But as a customer, I was still in the dark.
Connecting the Dots
Then I started to piece things together. West Lane said the first thing they were gonna do was get Mented up and running again. This suggested that Mented wasn’t really operating at the time of the buyout. It felt like the brand had just disappeared overnight.
I found a few mentions online from other confused customers who were having the same problem. Empty shelves, unfulfilled orders – it was a mess. It turns out, Mented was started back in 2017 by these two Harvard Business School grads, KJ Miller and Amanda E. Johnson. Their whole idea was to celebrate all skin tones and make beauty more inclusive. I really respected that.
The Current Situation
Now, here’s where it gets a bit murky. There was no official announcement about why Mented stopped operating like normal. Some people were saying they were facing serious challenges, but nobody really knew the full story. It’s all very hush-hush, which is frustrating for loyal customers like me.
But, the good news is that Mented Cosmetics isn’t gone for good. It’s just going through some major changes. They’re not out of business, but they’re definitely not the same company they were before. I’m hoping that West Lane will get things back on track soon. I miss my Mented products!
My Takeaway
This whole experience taught me that even brands that seem to be doing great can face unexpected issues. It’s a bummer when a brand you love goes through something like this, but I guess that’s just how business goes sometimes. I’ll be keeping an eye on Mented Cosmetics and hoping for the best. In the meantime, I’ll have to find some alternatives, but I’m still holding out hope that they’ll make a comeback. After all, they did promise to “celebrate all hues and to make beauty truly,” and I’m all for that.
It is a little bit sad to see this whole thing go down, but as long as they make good on their promise to get back up and running, I guess I can’t be too mad. It’s just a waiting game now. I hope they are able to get things back up and running soon so I can get back to using my favorite products. This is probably a common thing in the business world.
