Okay, so the other day I was playing Fortnite, and I noticed some weird stuff going on with the graphics. Like, some of the skins and textures were taking forever to load, and it was making the game run like crap. So I did some digging to figure out what was up.
Turns out, there’s this thing called “Cosmetic Streaming” in Fortnite. What it does is, it basically downloads the skins and textures of other players only when you run into them in the game. Sounds cool, right? Save some space, only download what you need. But man, it was killing my FPS and making the game run like trash.
Find Disable Cosmetic Streaming
Then, while I was looking around in the settings, I found something called “Pre-download Streamed Assets.” This thing downloads some game files in the background while you’re playing. I guess it’s supposed to make loading times shorter and keep things smooth. Sounds nice, but it wasn’t doing much good for me.
Disable Cosmetic Streaming
So, here’s the good part. I found out that you can actually turn off this Cosmetic Streaming thing. All you gotta do is:
- Open up your Epic Games Library.
- Go to the installation options for Fortnite.
- And boom, there’s a checkbox that says “Disable Cosmetic Streaming”.
I checked that box, and then I had to download a big update, like 24GB. But let me tell you, it was worth it.
Enjoy the Game
After that update, all the textures started loading properly, and my game ran so much smoother. No more stuttering or FPS drops just because someone with a fancy skin showed up. It was like a whole new game.
So, if you’re having the same issues in Fortnite, give this a try. It might just save your gaming experience like it did mine.
