Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in! You wanna know ’bout that Storybook Cosmetics, huh? Is Storybook Cosmetics going out of business? That’s what everyone’s yappin’ about, ain’t it? I heard a thing or two, you know, things get around, even to old ears like mine.
Those girls, the triplets, they started it. Erin, Mandy, and Missy, I heard someone call them. Always were kinda fancy, even when they were little. They was on that American Idol show, the one with all the singing, and then poof! They’re gone. Then they come up with this makeup thing, all colorful and shiny. Storybook, they call it. Just like a fairytale book.
They got all these colors, all glittery and bright. Storybook Cosmetics Owners, they are. I saw them one time on the Instagram, I think it was. Lots of folks follow them, too. They got all them young girls buyin’ up their stuff. My neighbor’s granddaughter, she has some. It’s expensive, I tell ya! But the kids, they love it. They love those Storybook things.
But now, folks are sayin’ they ain’t doin’ so good. That Storybook Cosmetics is going out of business. I don’t know for sure. Nobody tells me nothin’. But you know how it is, one day you’re in, the next day you’re out. It is a tough world. People don’t have much money now. Just like them. Maybe they are going out of business.
They got this thing, they call it the Spell Book. Looks like a book, but it’s got makeup in it. Eye shadow, they call it. All different colors. Storybook Cosmetics Spell Book, that’s what they call it. Makes your eyes look all sparkly, I guess. Not my style, but the young ones, they like it. I think it is not good for their skin. But who am I? Just an old lady.

Now, is Storybook Cosmetics going out of business? I heard whispers, that’s all. Maybe they sold all their makeup. Maybe nobody’s buyin’ it no more. Maybe they ran out of glitter. Who knows? These things happen. The makeup company is not forever. It’s hard to keep a business goin’, specially these days.
That Instagram thing, it’s full of pictures. Pictures of the makeup, pictures of the girls. Storybook Cosmetics, they put it all out there. But it don’t mean nothin’ if nobody’s buyin’. It is just a picture. You can not eat a picture, right? You need money. Money to buy food. To buy other things. Makeup is not that important.
I remember when I was young, we didn’t have all this fancy stuff. We used what we had. A little color from a berry, maybe. We didn’t need no Spell Book. We made our own magic. We didn’t need those Storybook Cosmetics things. We worked hard. We had a good life.
But these young ones, they like all this fancy stuff. They like that Storybook. They see it online, and they want it. That’s how it is with that internet thing. It makes you want things you don’t need. And then you spend all your money, and you got nothin’ left.
So, is Storybook Cosmetics going out of business? Could be. Wouldn’t surprise me none. It’s a hard world out there. Even for those fancy triplets with their sparkly makeup. It is a cruel world. You can not only use your beauty to live. You need to work hard, just like everyone else.
They were on that singing show, remember? American Idol. Maybe they shoulda stuck with that. Singin’ is better than sellin’ makeup, I reckon. But what do I know? I’m just sayin’. It’s a thought. A silly thought from a silly old lady.
But you know what they say, “All that glitters ain’t gold.” That’s true for that Storybook makeup, and it’s true for everything else. You gotta look beyond the sparkle, see what’s real. Storybook Cosmetics, maybe it’s just a story after all. A story that is about to end. Is Storybook Cosmetics going out of business? Time will tell, I guess. Time always tells.
